Ann Arbor, MI — January 30, 2014 — Dr. Carol Lefebvre, who earned her dental degree from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry in 1983 and a master’s degree in prosthodontics in 1988, will become the new dean of the Georgia Regents University College of Dental Medicine on Feb. 1.  She has been the interim dean of the college in Augusta since last July.

Lefebvre will lead approximately 300 students, 60 residents and 110 full- and part-time faculty engaged in classroom and clinical education and research.  A faculty member since 1989 and professor of oral rehabilitation and oral biology, she has served in other leadership roles at the College including vice dean and also as associate dean for strategic initiatives and faculty affairs.

In 2005, Lefebvre was one of 45 women in the U.S. and Canada selected as a fellow for the Hedwig van Ameringen Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine program, a course that prepares senior women faculty members for leadership positions at academic health centers.  She is a diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics.  Last year, Lefebvre was selected to serve on the Executive Council of the Academy of Prosthodontics.  She has also served as editor-in-chief for The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry.
