Ann Arbor, Mich., Oct. 17, 2023 – A School of Dentistry faculty member and an alumnus of the school who is an adjunct faculty member have been appointed to the Michigan Board of Dentistry by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer.

Dr. Dennis Fasbinder

Dr. Dennis Fasbinder, Clinical Professor of Dentistry in the Department of Cariology, Restorative Sciences and Endodontics, was appointed for a four-year term expiring in June 2027. Fasbinder, who is also director of the school’s Dental Faculty Associates, was appointed to represent dentists for the board.

The Michigan Board of Dentistry was formed to regulate the practice of dentistry and dental hygiene, authorize dental assistants, and certify specialists in the fields of orthodontics, endodontics, prosthodontics, pediatric dentistry, periodontics, oral and maxillofacial surgery, and oral pathology

Fasbinder earned his DDS degree from the U-M School of Dentistry in 1982. His faculty work is focused on applications of digital technology in dentistry and CAD/CAM systems for the fabrication of esthetic restorations. The Computerized Dentistry Unit provides education and conducts research based on 30 years of experience with technology applications for restorative dentistry. Prior to joining the dental school he previously served as a dentist in the U.S. Air Force.

Dr. Hassan Yehia

Whitmer also appointed Dr. Hassan Yehia, of Dearborn, to the board to represent dentists with health profession specialty certificates. His term also is through June 2027.

Yehia is the owner of the Endodontic Center in Royal Oak. He earned his DDS from U-M in 2013, then returned to complete his master’s degree in endodontics in 2018.
