Dental Hygiene Alumni Profile: Becky Domagalski2 min read
“You can pursue your degree at any and every age.”
Becky Domagalski
RDH, BSDH, Degree Completion, Class of 2016
Becky earned an associate degree in 1997 and worked for 20 years in clinical practice. However, Becky’s long-term career goal was to work in a corporate environment. In order to achieve that goal, she knew she would need a baccalaureate degree, so she started looking into degree completion educational programs. What drew her to U-M was the curriculum, specifically the fact that U-M degree completion students learn about the structure of community-based programs and complete a capstone project. Reflecting on her U-M education, Becky credits these experiences with positioning her well for the transition into business or corporate settings.
Becky currently works at Delta Dental of Michigan where her title is Care Coordinator and Dental Specialist. Becky works with the Healthy Kids Dental program to help parents navigate barriers to seeking dental care for their children. Becky travels to various communities to educate enrollees on the importance of having a dental home as one way to promote good oral and overall health. She loves working with people and sharing her expertise about oral health.
While a student at U-M Becky received the prestigious Kathy Yee SPIRIT Award, which recognizes a senior student who demonstrates a commitment to enriching the lives of others and advancing the profession of dental hygiene. Activities that demonstrate these characteristics include, though are not limited to, professional involvement, community service, mentoring and-or volunteerism.
Becky’s leadership and professional involvement have grown significantly over the years. From the early days of being a member of the American Dental Hygienists’ Association, to holding leadership positions in her local component, to now being President of the Michigan Dental Hygienists’ Association, Becky has been a wonderful role model and advocate for dental hygiene.
We salute Becky on her outstanding career.
